Romania ranks first among the European Union (EU) member states in terms of positive perception of the EU image, with 67 percent of the Romanians having expressed a favourable opinion of the European body, shows the Eurobarometer 69 study conducted over March – May 2008 and released on June 24.
Raking second after Romania, with 65 percent positive opinions was Ireland, that is a country which had not so long ago rejected the Treaty of Lisbon.
While considering the European Union as a whole, 48 percent of the body’s citizens said they have a positive image about the Union, 35 percent said they have a neutral image and 15 percent a negative one. The same study showed that the inflation and the unemployment were the main reasons of concern among the EU citizens. No less than 42 percent of the Europeans believe that things are going in the right direction in the EU, with 32 percent believing things are going in the right direction in their country too.
Moreover, 50 percent of the Europeans said they trust the EU, with 32 percent having said they trust their country’s government and 34 their country’s national parliament.
The Eurobarometer was conducted on a sample of 30,170 people, who were interviewed over March 25-May 4, 2008.
Deci, suntem prea increzatori? Eu zic ca asa ar trebui sa fim.
